Taarabt explained that at the time, Arsenal was a more appealing option for him due to its French influence under manager Arsene Wenger. However, he ended up joining Tottenham, where he found it challenging to break into the team.
He recalled arriving at the club with experienced players like Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov, who made it difficult for him to get playing time. Taarabt also mentioned that his former QPR manager Neil Warnock was instrumental in bringing him to Tottenham, despite initially intending to join Arsenal.
Warnock also shared his thoughts on Taarabt's time at the club, joking that some fans still thank him for the experience of watching Taarabt play. While acknowledging the challenges Taarabt faced, Warnock praised the player's talent and the joy he brought to the team and the fans.
