Liverpool and Eintracht Frankfurt have agreed on a fee of £79m for Ekitike. The two clubs have also outlined a six-year contract for the player, although some details still need to be finalized.
While Liverpool's manager, Arne Slot, and the rest of the team are currently in Hong Kong for their preseason tour, Hughes remains in Merseyside with the medical staff to oversee Ekitike's transfer process.
Once Ekitike's medical check-up is completed and approved, he will join his new teammates in Asia, where they will continue their preseason training.
