According to court documents, Ineos Automotive and Tottenham Hotspur signed a five-year sponsorship agreement in 2022. However, after Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a stake in Manchester United, it became clear that both Ineos and Tottenham would be terminating their contract.

Ineos Automotive released a statement explaining their decision to end the partnership, stating that they had a contractual right to do so and exercised that right in December 2024. The statement also mentioned that Ineos had been a partner of Tottenham Hotspur since 2020, expanding on an earlier partnership agreement.

Despite the statement from Ineos, Tottenham Hotspur has proceeded with filing a lawsuit against the company, seeking resolution in the High Court.
