Interestingly, some have suggested that Bayern's contract offer to Wirtz was more attractive than Liverpool's. However, Eberl seems to be taking a pragmatic approach, stating that he's unsure if Bayern could have matched Liverpool's current offer.
"If I'm being honest, I don't know if we could have paid what Liverpool are apparently paying now," Eberl said. "Florian Wirtz is an exceptional player, and we could have imagined signing him. But when one opportunity closes, another one opens."
