Kalidou Koulibaly has spoken about his past attempt to join Manchester United. In 2018, Napoli received a €100m offer from the English club, but the transfer was blocked by then-coach Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti had informed Koulibaly about the offer and told him that if he left, he would resign the following day. Koulibaly had considered leaving Napoli, where he had spent four seasons, to join Manchester United, but ultimately decided to stay after speaking with Ancelotti. The two had a heart-to-heart conversation in which Ancelotti expressed his commitment to winning the Scudetto with Napoli. Koulibaly appreciated Ancelotti's honesty and decided to remain at the club. Four years later, Koulibaly joined Chelsea in 2022.
